Member Spotlight: George James

George James was born and raised in Rockford, IL and began his career in music taking guitar lessons at the age of 11 and singing along to Elvis Presley''s music.  At 16, the studio where you took lessons invited him to join the teaching staff.  For the next 25 years he taught hundreds of students from beginners to advanced levels.  It was there, working with other teachers, that he formed a 4 piece variety dance and show band that performed for weddings, corporate events, fairs and festivals, and also a reception for then Governor Of Illinois, James Thompson.
 
During that time he made many many trips to Nashville recording and performing and was invited on two occasions to perform on the cable channel TNN, The Nashville Network, on the shows "You Can Be A Star" and "The Charlie Daniels Talent Roundup".
 
Moving to California in 1999, he began working as a solo act performing guitar and vocals.  He started his business, GEORGE JAMES...ENTERTAINS, combining "live" vocals with masterfully programmed DJ music.  Today he hosts numerous Karaoke shows and specializes in Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions.  He attends seminars and workshops each year to constantly learn and to become a better performer.  He is the current Treasurer of the San Diego Chapter ADJA and is also a member of the SDDJA, (San Diego Disc Jockey Association), and a charter member of the Wedding Specialists Of San Diego.  He can be reached at george@gjentertains.com or 760.443.9846
